Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Drafting/GIS Technologist, this position performs a variety of functions and activities related to the design, implementation, administration and maintenance of AutoCAD and hand-drawn drawings, as well as the implementation of information into the geographic information system (GIS).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares and revises design drawings as well as permanent drawing records from as-built sketches. Transfers information from work orders to AutoCAD drawings, GIS drawings and databases.
- Applies and upholds the standards and procedures for the collection, maintenance, file management and back-up of spatial and attribute data for the geographic information system (GIS).
- Collects, maintains and manages spatial and attribute data, including completing system back-up procedures.
- Applies and maintains the drafting standards and recommends procedures to ensure adherence to standards.
- Revises and maintains prints of maps, registered plans and easements.
- Reviews GIS information and AutoCAD drawings to ensure adherence to standards.
- Provides direction and guidance to staff regarding GIS and AutoCad processes and software, as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements

Graduation from a two-year, post-secondary drafting technology program with AutoCad and programming courses, in addition to a certificate from a recognized GIS programORgraduation from a two-year, post-secondary GIS technology program in addition to a certificate from a recognized AutoCad program.

Eligible for registration as a Professional Technologist with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan within 12 months of start date.

Two years' experience in electric utility engineering operations, including one year of experience with GIS applications would be an asset.

Experience with SQL database, ESRI ArcInfo and ArcFM software would be an asset.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of GIS concepts and related database and programming software.
- Knowledge of technical terminology, practices, techniques, equipment and software used to prepare and maintain drawings for an electric utility.
- Knowledge of surveying practices.
- Ability to interpret maps, plans, survey notes and other work-related data.
- Ability to read and understand detailed electrical and site plans, electrical schematics and specifications.
- Ability to work as part of a team or individually with minimal supervision.
- Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Skill in the use and care of drafting instruments and related equipment.
- Skill in the use of a computer with AutoCad, GIS, database, programming, word-processing and spreadsheet software.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel and Access.
**Weekly Hours:**37.33
Salary Range:$67,742.88 to $75,265.20 CADper annum(2023 rates)
