Purpose** To lead the Energy Management and the Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) programs with associated reporting requirements on behalf of Porcupine Operations.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the energy management program based on Federal, Provincial, Corporate, and Site requirements
- Assist with the budgeting process relating to energy requirements with subsequent tracking and monitoring of consumption / costs with forecasts and projections
- Monitor and communicate Power Load Shedding predictions, forecasting and recommendations
- Accountable for the tracking and maintaining accurate records of all energy reporting requirements for electricity, natural gas, compressed natural gas, propane, diesel, gasoline and others as needed
- Point of contact for Federal, Provincial, corporate and site reporting requirements including Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), National Electrical Annuity Plan (NEAP), Emission Performance Standards (EPS)
- Assess and analyze operating conditions and energy management systems with presentations to senior management and teams with recommendations for energy efficiency and energy cost savings opportunities
- Identify, analyze, prioritize and implement energy improvement opportunities based on the site’s business needs
- Coordinate and lead teams to implement changes in operating conditions, monitoring, measurements and controls for energy efficiencies and cost savings opportunities
- Coordinate updates to and maintain energy management policies, standards, procedures, and programs for the site
- Accountable for the annual ESG report planning, coordination and consolidation of data and information ensuring the corporate reporting requirements are met
- Primary site contact for the energy-related external government agencies
- Participate in an on-call schedule within the environmental department for emergencies and spills response (24 hrs/day, ~every 10 weeks)
Training and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, environmental, sciences, business systems or related field with application to mining, processing, or resource-based businesses
- Professional designation as an Engineering Technician, Certified Energy Manager, Internal Auditor, or other equivalent within the province of Ontario
Training
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mining operations, processing, energy management, environmental or other related field
- Familiarity with processing systems, communications, equipment operations or maintenance are an asset
- Valid G driver’s license
Experience
- Technical and analytical skills required to consolidate, review and interpret data with recommendations and communications to senior leadership for decision making
- Excellent writing skills to draft reports, presentations, procedures, and performance objectives / targets
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects, Planner, Visio as well as other business systems such as SAP, PIVision, PowerBI
- Independent, responsible individual with excellent time management and prioritization skills to work on multiple projects
- Ability to function well under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
- Maintain a good relationship with internal departments through open communication and department visibility in the workforce.
- Strong work ethic with high degree of motivation and initiative
- Perform various environmental, workplace, and safety inspections at various Porcupine operations.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment and can lift up to 50 lbs
Compensation And Benefits Competitive total compensation package including:
- Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, Disability, Healthcare and Wellness Spending Accounts, Virtual Care and Employee and Family Assistance Program;
- Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
- Annual total compensation of CAD$117,554 to CAD$145,214 (including annual bonus eligibility).
