Given the nature of Langdon Hall as a unique, luxury boutique property, every team member will serve as an ambassador for the Hotel and be a multi-functional individual who is driven to always exceed guests’ expectations with an attention for detail. Our team possess strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards their work and their fellow colleagues while handling pressure situations.
The Shoppe Retail Salesperson is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and driving sales within the boutique wine shop. This role involves assisting customers with their wine selections, maintaining a clean and organized store, and ensuring an overall positive shopping experience. The Salesperson will work closely with the Retail & Corporate Wine Manager to promote sales and create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
This position requires a strong interest in wine, an enthusiasm for customer engagement, and the ability to communicate product knowledge effectively. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering top-notch service.
Salary
$19.00 per hour plus sales based commission
Reporting Chain
Reports directly to the Retail & Corporate Wine Manager.
Receives direction from any member of the Langdon Hall Management Team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide personalized wine recommendations, pairings, and expert advice for an enjoyable shopping experience.
- Handle transactions efficiently while upselling products, wine packages, and special offers.
- Maintain store cleanliness, ensure shelves are stocked, and assist with merchandising displays.
- Stay informed on wine selections and educate customers on tasting notes, pairings, and serving suggestions.
- Collaborate with the team on store operations, inventory management, and sales goals.
- Build relationships with repeat customers and enhance engagement through proactive service.
- Monitor stock levels and report low inventory to ensure product availability.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
- Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.
- Interest in wine, with a willingness to learn about various wine styles, regions, and pairings.
- Wine education preferred, such as a Sommelier certification or other wine-related training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Fast paced environment – must be able to work under pressure and be able to multitask.
- Physically fit, ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Must have own transportation and be eligible to legally work in Canada.
