Maintenance Worker I
The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year.

Come join us! We are hiring a Permanent Part Time Maintenance Worker I
Pay Grid: $27.69 - $28.44
Reporting to the Director, Physical Plant and Grounds at RVH, The Maintenance Worker I supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the Hospital by performing routine building and grounds maintenance, security checks, break coverage and assisting the Maintenance Worker II in their daily work. These functions are performed within a team environment that includes licensed tradespersons, maintenance assistants, and director. Other duties as appropriate and/or required may also be assigned.
Duties Will Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Perform duties that are within the scope of an unlicensed tradesperson, including general facilities maintenance such as minor mechanical repairs of equipment (e.g., dietary and laundry equipment, intake/exhaust fans, compressors, beds, sterilizers etc); performing preventive maintenance, moving furniture and equipment, minor cleaning of drains, assembling equipment and routine inspection of equipment, upkeep and repair of parking equipment;
- Perform minor building maintenance and renovation projects e.g., painting, mounting equipment, sanding, patching, drywall etc.
- Under supervision of licensed trade (e.g., Director or Maintenance Worker II), perform other general maintenance, electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry and physical plant repairs and maintenance for sign-off by supervising tradesperson.
- Receives daily assignments from the Director, Physical Plant and Grounds, and prioritizes work orders
- Removes garbage as per protocol
- Maintains hospital grounds (e.g., parking areas, lawn care and mowing, snow removal, etc.)
- Performs security checks.
- Covers breaks at switchboard.
- Is fully knowledgeable of disaster protocol and performs emergency services as needed
- Identifies when a job requires a level of expertise that is beyond the scope of the position
- Performs other related and associated duties as required.
Qualifications Qualifications:
- Grade XI
- Trades Certificate asset but not required
- At least 3 years related experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Literacy skills to read, write, speak and follow written direction
- Able to perform the duties within the physical demands of the work environment
