SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Permit Coordinator
Working in Puslinch, On
The Permit Coordinator supports the Projects and Operations departments and serves as the primary point of contact for all internal and external permit-related inquiries. This position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who has the ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
-
Obtain oversize/overweight permits for project loads and for fleet vehicles that exceed legal size and weight limits – including annual permits, single trip permits, temporary trip/fuel permits, road closure permits, Superload permits, etc.

Prepare and submit permit applications and monitor their status to ensure timely issuance of permits

Liaise with permitting officials, utility companies, third party bridge engineers, and any other external stakeholders, to obtain permit approvals
-
Review issued permits, and communicate permit conditions to relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance

Schedule pilot cars and police escorts, when necessary
-
Order route surveys, when necessary
-
Assess the suitability of proposed routes, considering such factors as bridge clearances, road conditions, turning movements, lane widths, etc.

Stay informed on the various transport legislation/regulations and travel restrictions in Canada and the United States
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
-
Previous experience ordering permits for oversized/ over-dimensional freight and fuel and trip permits
-
Previous coordination experience
-
Prior trucking or pilot car experience would be considered an asset
-
Bilingual in English and French would be an asset, but is not mandatory
-
Post-Seconary Education
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills
-
Strong data-entry skills and detail-oriented
-
Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
-
Ability to work independently
-
Ability to efficiently plan and organize workload, and handle competing priorities and deadlines
-
Ability to handle pressure, work with interruptions and meet deadlines
-
Willingness to learn and accept responsibility
