##Job Profile
The Supervisor – Sport Development and Booking provides leadership to the City’s Booking Team which serves as the primary point of contact for all community facility bookings and community sport organizations related to facility allocation and facility and sport field operations, leagues and agreements with program providers. Specifically, the supervisor oversees the staff and day to day operations of the Bookings Office.
This position will manage and oversee the implementation and execution of the Facility Space Allocation Policy and liaise with stakeholders in regards to User Fee Policies with responsibility for applying the Fees and Rates Bylaw and other key policies related to Bookings. The role will work with internal and external stakeholders with the long-term goal of developing a dynamic, collaborative, engaged and sustainable community sport delivery system and a responsive customer service team which provides access to city facilities and programs.
This position also provides leadership to recreation programs and events conducted outside of the facilities, through staff and volunteer organizations. Responsible for Stand-by duties within the Community Services Department as scheduled which includes Arenas, Forestry, Parks, Cemeteries, Recreation Centres, Pools, Trail, and Special Events.
##What you will be doing

Responsible for daily programs and services delivered through the City’s Bookings Office.

Responsible for the development and oversight of all Policies as they relate to Sports Development and Facility Bookings. Assures compliance and documentation as applicable to regulations and standard operating procedures. Takes leading role in development, training and implementation of new and existing Standard Operating Procedures and responsible for quality control. Identifies training needs for field staff.

Responsible for the planning and delivery of citywide programs such as drop in arena programs and sport leagues, ensuring they are successfully marketed, operated and administered.

Provides input to the departmental budget process and is responsible for assigned cost centers, forecasting and controlling expenditures in areas under direct control.

In conjunction with other departments, negotiates and implements legal agreements related to joint use of facilities or capital contributions from school boards and community sport organizations. Administers the agreements with third-party Recreation program providers and management/operating agreements for City facilities as liaison for these groups.

Coordinates implementation of sport facility needs outlined in Master Plans. Conducts research and develops business cases and budget requests for needed sports facilities and participates in facility design and operational planning for new/renovated facilities

Develops business cases with supporting justification to advance strategic interests such as sport tourism, esports, grant opportunities, customer-friendly online and self-service technologies for the Bookings Office; initiating business practice reviews to identify efficiencies and prepare recommendations for Recreation Leadership Team.

Ensures employees work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations, and Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, and to take every reasonable precaution to protect the workers under direct supervision.

Provides consultative services to community organizations, offers assistance with board development, public relations and budgeting, to facilitate partnerships and effective/efficient programming. Liaises with government agencies, the media, and other job-related organizations.

Develops and prepares correspondence including briefing notes, corporate reports, and corporate policies using political acuity, logic and exceptional judgment skills.

Is a key participant in the recruitment of staff to support the programs and services within the portfolio. Responsible for staff supervision, scheduling, development, discipline, evaluating and responds to grievances. Provides leadership and direction to staff and volunteers to achieve effective, efficient operations for the area. Possess a comprehensive understanding of the collective bargaining agreement and a working knowledge of the collective bargaining process.

##Education

University degree in recreation and/or sport management or related field.

Sport Turf Management Course is considered an asset.

Certified in First Aid, CPR, AED along with Principles of Healthy Child Development, and Quest 2.
##Experience and Knowledge

3-5 years of relevant supervisory experience in the recreation sector relating to sports development and facility bookings operations
-
Strong working knowledge of ActiveNet Facility Bookings module.
-
Knowledge of applicable legislation, codes, and regulations.
-
Experience with field and ice allocation, working with sport and community groups along with programming, community development/engagement experience.

Current and valid Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.
High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development (or willingness to obtain prior to commencing employment)

##Your compensation
The annual salary range for this non-union position is $97,048 to $118,348 (Band Level 5). We offer a comprehensive benefits package and are an Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) employer
##Hours of work
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week). The position will require on-call and after-hours work as required.
