We are seeking a permanent Diesel Technician to join our Northern Generation Department in Gillam, Manitoba.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting with the planning and organizing of the resources associated with the Northern Generation REPS.
- Direct the activities of staff that may be assigned to assist with the installation, commissioning, service and repair REP
equipment.
- Responsible for entering information in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (RMS, EAM) on work
performed, time and material used.
- Responsible for sourcing and ordering the required parts to perform work required.
- Train all associated staff on the procedures and equipment in the area of responsibility.
- Establish relationships with internal and external customers to ensure adequate maintenance and expected operational
performance has occurred.
- Plan and organize the installation, inspection, overhaul, commissioning and maintenance of diesel generators, pumps and
other auxiliary driven equipment including associated systems.
- Trace faults and perform repairs under emergency conditions.
- May be required to train local staff in the proper operation and maintenance of diesel generators, pumps and other auxiliary
driven equipment including associated systems.
- Respond to and operate diesel generators, pumps and other auxiliary driven equipment including associated systems under
emergency conditions.
- Comply fully with all safety procedures and regulations as well as Corporate, Legislative and regulatory environmental
requirements.
- Assist in maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory.
- Assist in the handling of fuel oil, lube oil and other supplies for the diesel equipment, including spill response and clean up.
- Fabricate and shape parts, etc., using special precision tools.
- Responsible for the proper use and care of test equipment, instruments, and special tools.
- Assist in setting up preventative maintenance schedules.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 and possess an Interprovincial Certificate as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic.
- Minimum of three years' experience related to diesel generation.
- Required to have mechanical aptitude and leadership skills to satisfy all requirements of the position.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and direct junior personnel.
- Physically capable of performing the normal duties of the position.
- Familiar with and adhere to Manitoba Hydro Safety Manual and other approved practices and procedures.
- Experience with electronic engine governors would be an asset.

- Possess a certificate for Handling and Transportation of Dangerous Goods, surface (TDG).
- Possess an approved set of personal hand tools.

- Familiar with and adhere to Federal and Provincial regulations and practices related to WHMIS, TDG, Working Alone,
Confined Space, Fall Restraint.
- Required to travel between the Northern Generation sites and may be requested to support other generation sites in an
emergency.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $38.49-$54.73 Hourly,
$73,764.08-$104,873.86 Annually.
