The role:

The Analytics & Insights Specialist provides proactive, actionable prescriptive analytical support and business insight to the Lines of Business(LOB). With strong analytical skills, a knowledge of reporting systems, and a talent for influencing without authority, they will act as an internal consultant, adding value and insight to key stakeholders and management.

As a subject matter expert, the Analytics & Insights Specialist demonstrates an ability to present complicated analytical material in a concise and compelling manner and, interpret insights in a meaningful way for management and partners.

The role will support the advancement of analytics and data management, processes, and tools to contribute to the achievement of Meridian’s strategic and in year goals. This role will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the current Reporting environment along with the development of new and adhoc reporting to support the line of businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Insights, Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze, prepares and presents scheduled reports (i.e. key business performance indicators, dashboards and scorecards) and ad hoc reports (i.e. in support of projects or departmental initiatives) for the lines of business, both proactively and upon request
  • Acts as the analytics lead for Line of business on internal and enterprise initiatives
  • Provides Line of business leaders with management reporting that identifies issues, opportunities and emerging trends that enables the user to take action
  • Identifies and monitors key performance indicators, sharing relevant, accurate and insightful findings with LOB leadership team and key partners at various levels within the organization on a timely basis
  • Leads qualitative and quantitative analysis of relevant industry and consumer behaviour trends to highlight improvements, growth opportunities and new business opportunities
  • Demonstrates an ability to leverage technology to streamline processes, tools and analysis
  • Maintain & Enhance current LOB Reporting environment
  • Development of new reporting & conversion of existing legacy reporting using new technology

Business Solutions

  • Assists with the development of various programs by collecting, analysing and collating Member information ensuring that Meridian delivers a personalized solution that is in relation to their transactional, advice or price-driven relationships
  • Provides recommendations to enhance the Member Experience while improving the overall efficiency of its processes
  • Collaborate with others in the Meridian analytics communities to further the needs of the Line of Business support teams. Engage key stakeholders such as Credit reporting to avoid duplication of effort and ensure effective reporting.
  • Educate the business on opportunities to enhance Member needs and contribute to relationship growth;

Communication

  • Coordinates the acquisition of data from various, relevant data sources and applies analytical skills to convert data into meaningful information
  • Assesses information and conducts research to evaluate business issues
  • Interprets results and delivers information and/or presentations with impact
  • Collaborates across all departments within the LOB and establishes strong communication among team members to determine and meet their reporting and analytical needs
  • Consults with internal stakeholders to develop actionable insights that help to accelerate aspects of the Member Experience and Strategic plans
  • Effectively demonstrates the ability to explain complex information and concepts to different audiences, including professionals in a manner tailored to the audience and elicits receptivity
  • Networks with other like-minded individuals to keep abreast of new solutions, resources, and analytical techniques
  • Builds an external source of information that increases the teams understanding of consumer behaviours, expectations, and current/future attributes

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Degree or diploma in mathematics, statistics or computer science or related discipline;
  • Experience in a financial institution environment with a strong understanding of financial metrics, segmentation and industry drivers.
  • Proven analytic skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization (ability to analyse large datasets)
  • Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
  • High level of proficiency in designing & developing custom analytics utilizing available or externally obtained data
  • Strong SQL and Excel skills with the ability to learn other analytic tools
  • Practical experience in statistical analysis through the use of statistical packages including Excel, Power BI and SAS
  • Business and partnership focused with an understanding of how Member Experience enables the business
  • Demonstrates a passion for creative problem-solving and a desire to propose changes that proactively seize market opportunities;
  • Forward thinking with an openness to change to identify new opportunities
  • Expertise with research methodologies and research design
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in cross-functional teams, with internal customers and key stakeholders
  • Strong expertise in analysis and fluency with various software and techniques of analysis
  • Commitment to and drive for continuous improvement
  • Strong process management skills, initiative, ability to manage competing priorities and attention to detail are critical
  • Exhibits an analytical, creative, and innovative approach to meeting stakeholder and business needs
  • Able to handle confidential and proprietary information with discretion

Salary Range: CAD $80,000– $85,000 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.

Office Location: Toronto Corporate Office or St. Catherines Corporate. This is a hybrid opportunity
