Wakefield Canada Inc. has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer reporting to Engineering and Facilities Manager. This role will support facility projects by providing technical expertise in design, planning and execution.
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical and engineering leadership to support Manufacturing and Distribution operations, with specific emphasis on Plant Maintenance & Facilities. The role will also identify and drive new opportunities to enhance existing plant operations from an engineering, maintenance, and facilities perspective.
In This Role You Will:
- Prepare drawings, designs and layouts with AutoCAD and/or Solid Works.
- Plan, direct, coordinate and execute activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in the existing and new facilities.
- Establish standards and policies for noise & pollution control, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
- Develop, implement and maintain a preventative & predictive maintenance program for the operational and facility assets including new relocation site with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Distribution to develop and prioritize annual capital plan.
- Conduct the required inspections/audits related to codes and regulatory requirements, and company policies, and ensuring appropriate capital (or maintenance activity) is undertaken to ensure compliance.
- Manage and oversee the CAPEX approval process, collaborating with Finance team to close out projects and complete the asset management cycle.
- Oversee the transition of equipment and infrastructure with minimal disruption to production and business activities.
- Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.
- Manage vendors, contractors, and consultants to meet project quality, safety, and performance expectations.
- Drive new opportunities for innovation and efficiency in facility design, maintenance practices, and engineering initiatives.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has:
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor, coach and develop others.
- Positive leadership example includes excellent team and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate, impact and influence in areas where no direct authority exists.
- Ability to translate ideas and concepts to non-technical personnel and develop technical scope and design to meet requirements/needs.
- Strong orientation to innovate and continuously investigate emerging technologies to potentially leverage within Wakefield operations.
- Ability to investigate and identify root cause in complex technical issues.
IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering with a P. Eng designation or E.I.T. that is working towards P. Eng designation.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with a strong technical background in manufacturing processes and plant maintenance.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Strong risk management and risk assessment competencies.
- Experience with automation systems and PLC programming is an asset.
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR YOU TO KNOW:
- Office mixed with Plant-Warehouse environment.
- Regular plant operations/warehouse/truck yard environment which would require the use of all necessary PPE (safety glasses, hard hats, safety boots, reflective clothing etc.).
- Extended hours during peak times and weekend work may be required while overseeing contractors/operations.
- Travel between the existing and new locations.
