Position Summary

Reporting through the Cultural Services Section of the Recreation and Culture Division, this position will assist the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator in securing revenue in areas including sponsorships, grants, naming rights, advertising, and donor campaigns for the Recreation and Culture Division.

The area of specialization will be identified at the time of hiring based on qualifications, past experience, and skill set.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researching and identifying corporate prospects and grant opportunities (government and private sector) according to the Recreation & Culture Division’s partnership and advertising priorities.
  • Helps in preparing internal and external debrief reports and grant applications with respect to partnerships and sales initiatives. Actively soliciting prospects as assigned; designs sales presentations used in promoting revenue generating opportunities inherent within the division.
  • Assists in tracking and updating agreements/contracts.
  • Assists with data entry and preparation of regular reporting on progress related to achieving targets.
  • Assists in client invoicing and accounts receivables duties
  • Assists in client fulfillment reporting

  • Collaborates with internal marketing and promotions staff to ensure recognition according to the terms of agreements.
  • Assists in identifying internal and external stakeholders to support or partner on potential campaigns.
  • Assists in tracking the delivery of all marketing benefits agreed to for sponsorship and advertising agreements that have been executed.
  • Ensures appropriate recognition of partners through events, publications and web pages; including creative thinking in terms of customization for partners.
  • Liaises with community organizations and local businesses to promote partnerships and sales opportunities.
  • Attends various events/tradeshows/meetings with the purpose of marketing sponsorship and sales opportunities.
  • Adheres to corporate, department, division policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a diploma in Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline with minimum two (2) years’ experience in business development, sales, sponsorship and/or fundraising in a corporate environment. Understanding of the Recreation & Culture field or accreditation towards a comparable designation considered an asset.

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve revenue targets.
  • Sales experience within a corporate environment.
  • Grant writing experience is an asset.
  • Exceptional prospecting and networking skills with a focus on excellent customer service and client acquisition.
  • Team player with strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Client-oriented including an understanding of public relations best practices.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)/ and other job-related software.
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills; ability to speak a second language is an asset.
  • Possession of a valid unrestricted Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle are essential (mileage compensated).
