We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a skilled Design Interface Manager to support the Fraser River Tunnel Project (FRTP), a complex infrastructure initiative requiring seamless coordination across multiple engineering disciplines. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the design interfaces throughout the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on developing and implementing the technical definition process. Your expertise will ensure that all interface requirements are clearly defined, documented, and integrated into the project’s design solutions, supporting the successful delivery of a coordinated and constructible tunnel design.

In this position, you will lead and supervise the Zone Management team, overseeing requirements management and cross-discipline interface coordination. You will be accountable for establishing the cross-discipline interface requirements, ensuring their alignment and integration across all design teams. Conducting thorough technical reviews, you will facilitate collaboration between engineering disciplines and drive the resolution of interface issues, supporting both quality and project schedule objectives. Your leadership will be instrumental in coordinating technical inputs, maintaining robust interface management processes, and upholding Arcadis’ standards of excellence on the FRTP.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead and supervise adherence to project requirements, with a strong focus on cross-discipline interface management. You will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support throughout the design process, ensuring timely delivery of outputs from all disciplines and the development of integrated solutions. Working closely with the Design-Builder, you will help develop and maintain the Interface Management Plan, establishing processes to manage technical interfaces during the design phase. Your responsibilities include leading the application of these processes, as well as managing the technical coordination of the Consultant’s design with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

You will establish and maintain a comprehensive Technical Interface Register and associated Technical Interface Matrix, ensuring these are kept up-to-date as new information is received or disseminated through formal communications such as Technical Queries (TQs). In this capacity, you will identify all internal technical interfaces relevant to the Consultant’s scope and ensure clear, consistent sharing of information between all involved disciplines. Defining interface requirements and developing a coordinated interface schedule with clear milestones will be essential to tracking the progress of design integration, monitoring issues, and ensuring their timely closure. You will also ensure accurate documentation and status logging of interface issues, while facilitating the resolution process through regular coordination with Discipline Technical Leads, Package Owners, and the Design Manager, particularly in relation to specific project requirements such as those set by DEWA.

Additionally, you will represent the project in key design and technical meetings with stakeholders and during third-party reviews as needed. Organizing and participating in design coordination meetings and workshops, both internally and across disciplines, will be crucial to expediting necessary inputs and resolving interface issues. You will drive consistency in documentation across design packages, lead interdisciplinary reviews, and escalate unresolved issues promptly to the design manager or director. Furthermore, your role will involve undertaking functional and technical reviews of design packages before release, coordinating with the System Assurance Team on safety assessments related to interfaces, and ensuring all design teams provide the required inputs as per the agreed program.

Ultimately, you will guide and liaise with the Systems Requirements Manager, ensuring compliance with the Design Management Plan, Project Management Plan, and Quality Management protocols. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving effective coordination, integration, and quality assurance across all design and interface management activities.
