About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Millwright (Interprovincial Red Seal) to join our dynamic team. This critical role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our chemical processing equipment and systems.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining plant equipment, building structure and fixtures.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all work is being done with safety in mind.
- Identify problems troubleshoot and eliminate root cause to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
- Perform assigned Preventive Maintenance and resolve issues.
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Repair and maintain plant equipment, physical structures and fixtures
- Inspect machinery and equipment
- Make machinery and building repairs and modifications
- Read blueprints, drawing manuals or specifications
- Operate and repair plant support equipment
- Handle repairs and coordinate with contractors
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
- Accurately complete daily records
- Operate forklift or scissor lift
- Carry out physical demands of the job
- Meet all safety requirements and regulations
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ensure a clean and orderly work environment
- Develop a flexible approach to a team environment
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Other work as assigned by supervisor
- Assist in new employee training
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education & Certification:
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Millwright.
- Post-secondary education or technical training in mechanical systems is an asset.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a millwright in a chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and process safety management.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals.
- Proficiency with precision alignment tools, welding, and machining.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and CMMS systems.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Comfortable working in a plant environment, including exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Proactive and able to work independently or as part of a team.
