The successful candidate will be required to work all shifts.
Qualifications

Must be a graduate of a recognized program for Medical Laboratory Technologists

Must be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (C.M.L.T.O)

Eligible for or in the process of obtaining registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
-
Candidates awaiting CSMLS certification (e.g., writing the exam in June 2025) are welcome to apply.

Familiarity with routine microbiology techniques, including but not limited to:
-
Specimen handling and processing
-
Culture setup and incubation
-
Gram staining and interpretation
-
Biochemical testing and manual identification methods
-
Understanding of molecular diagnostic principles, including but not limited to:
-
Nucleic acid extraction (manual or automated)
-
PCR setup and amplification
-
Basic interpretation of molecular test results
-
Awareness of laboratory safety and biosafety procedures, particularly in Containment Level 2 (CL2) environments
-
Basic knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and the importance of maintaining accurate and complete documentation.
-
Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately.

Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and a commitment to working respectfully and collaboratively in a team environment.

Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel) and an openness to learning Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as scheduled.

Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
Assets (Not Required)
- Experience or exposure to automated microbiology systems (e.g., MALDI-TOF, automated ID/AST platforms).
- Awareness of accreditation standards (e.g., IQMH, Accreditation Canada) or experience with inspections/audits.
- Interest in continuous improvement, process standardization, or participating in Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
