About the role
Kelly Services is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Corporate Controller / Director of Accounting based in Markham, Ontario. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a well-established company in the construction and real estate development industry.
This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both strategic financial leadership and hands-on involvement in project accounting and financial reporting.
What You'll Be Doing: Lead the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end financial reporting Oversee project accounting, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting for development projects Prepare and review project proformas, budgets, and financial analysis Manage banking relationships, lender reporting, construction draws, and financing requirements Ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA, Tarion, and other regulatory requirements Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Support audits, internal controls, and continuous process improvements Lead and mentor the accounting team while partnering with senior leadership to support business decisions
What We're Looking For: 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience in a leadership role within real estate development, construction, or another project-based industry. CPA designation (required) Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field Strong knowledge of financial reporting, project accounting, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and lender reporting Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Newstar, Jonas, or similar Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Compensation & Benefits: Starting salary: $120,000 annually (based on experience) Annual performance bonus Annual salary review RRSP matching program Comprehensive health and dental benefits Employee discounts available after successful completion of the probationary period
