Innovation & Strategic Partnerships unites Western’s Technology Transfer Office, Strategic Partnerships, and Western Research Parks, driving the impact of Western’s research by fostering connections between research, industry, and communities.
The Program Event Assistant role supports the planning, coordination, and execution of programs and events in Innovation and Strategic Partnerships. This role works closely with the team to ensure all logistical, administrative, and communication tasks are completed efficiently, contributing to the success of meetings, conferences, workshops, and other special events.
Both graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist with marketing and promotions, including maintaining webpages and developing materials.
- Create graphics and content using Canva and MailChimp for social media, websites, and email campaigns.
- Draft and schedule social media posts to promote events and initiatives.
- Support day-to-day program needs and collaborate on various projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Canva.
- WordPress experience is a plus.
- Copywriting and editing experience are a plus.
Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Ability:
- Experience developing videos, articles, website, and social media content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Self-motivated and self-disciplined with a "can-do" attitude.
- Attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask, determine priorities, and work with deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Competent in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Competent with various online social networks (Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Familiar with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiar with database searching.
