Overview of role: The Specialist, EntraID is a focused technical role responsible for delivering authoritative guidance and hands‑on leadership across Microsoft ecosystem and collaboration platforms. This version of the role places deep Entra ID expertise at the center of a foundational Zero Trust approach, with identity, authentication, authorization, and secure application deployment standards driving architecture, operations, and governance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert for Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) and the Microsoft Entra suite, providing definitive and expert technical advice and actively maintains expert level knowledge within Entra ID, Active Directory, Exchange On-Premises, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Security Technology, communication and collaboration toolset standards and best practices.
  • Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, inducing third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organizational objectives.
  • Develops and continuously improves standards and methods, ensuring compliance and maintaining technical responsibility for all the stages of projects, initiatives, engagements, and operational sustainment.
  • Provides technical advice to stakeholders and can translate and communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Takes ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements and possesses the know-how to take full accountability for actions taken and decisions made.
  • Takes the lead in identifying appropriate technology and approaches, deciding when software should be developed, enhanced, or procured.
  • Works with operational partners to ensure the supportability of new features/products and to provide timely technical support and fixes to production appliances.
  • Coordinates build activities across systems; undertakes and supports integration testing activities.
  • Produce detailed designs and documents work using required standards, methods, and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
  • Possess the ability to generate and foster effective, trust-based, and reciprocal relationships with key IT and business partners.
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective translation of complicated technology-related concepts to IT and non-IT leadership and business partners with concision as part of communication and project requirements, exercising nuance to adapt to audience requirements.
  • Provides technical leadership, and coaches, teaches and mentors the team.
  • Leads workshops, presentations, and training that provide skill and knowledge development for the team and for the business.
  • Engages in meaningful interactions and relationships with users and can manage multiple competing priorities effectively.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and 5+ years of experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Microsoft, security, or general IT certifications are considered valuable assets.
  • Previous people leadership experience is considered an asset.
  • Power Platform governance and/or development experience considered a valuable asset.
  • Expert problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in leading investigations and resolution of incidents.
  • Proficient in developing technical requirements for complex systems and integrations.
  • Proficient in collaborating with others when necessary to review specifications and can use these agreed specifications to design, develop, test and document programs or scripts of medium to high complexity, using the right standards and tools.
  • Proficient in integration builds, can coordinate build activities across systems and support complex integration testing activities.
  • Broad understanding of information security and can design solution and service with security controls embedded, specifically engineered as mitigation against security threats as a core part of the solutions and services.
  • Broad understanding of standards for definition, security and integrity of objects and ensuring conformance to these standards.
  • Expertise in understanding and identifying and analyzing problems, as well as helping to identify the appropriate solution. Ability to classify and prioritize problems, document their causes, and implement remedies.
  • Expertise in designing, understanding, explaining, and documenting whole, complex systems.
  • Expertise in identifying process optimization opportunities with guidance and ability to contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions.
