About the role

Description

Student Accessibility Services within Student Experience and Support is currently seeking six (6) Recurring Part-time Exam Support.

Reporting to the Exam Centre Manager, this recurring part-time position supports student and faculty inquiries, exam proctoring and entry level administrative duties to support accommodated exams. The SAS Exam Centre provides a centralized location for students with disabilities to receive approved accommodations for writing course-based exams and tests. There is a high volume of work supporting more than 21, 000 tests in addition to email and phone inquiries.

The Exam Centre typically operates from 8:00 am through 8:00 pm Monday-Friday, and limited Saturdays. During the term this role requires a commitment to a designated weekly shift September through April and a minimum of 8 full-time shifts during final exam periods. Current undergraduate students are not eligible.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Monitors, responds and directs correspondence to appropriate staff.
  • Responds to general inquiries and phone inquires.
  • Provide proctoring support for exams (Review Exam Centre process with students at the start of exams: locking personal belonging, reviewing allowed resources, confirming length of exam and other accommodation information, and seating the student. Circulates through the exam centre to monitor examinees)
  • Provide support for student questions during exams, including confirming information about allowed resources when necessary.
  • Assist Examination Centre staff with administrative duties including printing exam, creating labels, and booking exams
  • Work with important documents such as examinations and confidential student information.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
  • Willingness and ability to develop an understanding of Student Accessibility Services policies and procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, email and internet applications.
  • Ability to work in a confidential setting and demonstrate good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, team-based environment with an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, preference given to candidates with customer services or front-line experience.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to maintain the integrity and security of exams
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team while working in a supervisor-directed setting.
  • Must be organized, conscientious and possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring processes are followed correctly and consistently.
  • Able to perform moderate physical activity, such as walking and standing.
