What Is the Opportunity?
The Data & Architecture team (DAS) is leading multiple complex, enterprise- wide initiatives to improve technology management, data controls management and architectural governance at RBC. This role focuses on strategy development, achieving alignment on key focus areas, and managing critical activities to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the DAS team.
As the QTS DAS Strategic Analyst & Operational Lead, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams (QTS & Enterprise) to define the QTS Architecture & Data strategic vision for various Capital Markets initiatives. You will also align project outcomes with strategic objectives, create impactful presentations, manage performance metrics, and foster transparency through internal communications. This role will also support the governance and operational aspects of the architecture strategy execution to ensure efficiency and compliance.
This Associate Director-level role is based in Halifax, reporting to the Head of Architecture Strategy, Business Management & Governance (Toronto), and involves close collaboration with teams in New York, Toronto, and London.
What Will You Do?
- Manage and direct activities across teams and stakeholders to align with a strategic vision, track initiative progress, and support organizational goals.
- Transform complex information into concise, impactful messaging that resonates with stakeholders and demonstrates how we are creating value-add to the business.
- Deliver insights and direction through meaningful presentations and status reports for key audiences, including QTS, stakeholders, leadership forums, steering committees, and enterprise architecture partners.
- Collaborate with Business Management to oversee team workforce compliance, co-op/grad team placements and hiring, compliance requirements, and other operational management activities.
- Develop and implement a QTS-wide communication plan to share our strategy, clarify priorities, promote best practices, and increase awareness of technology & data standards.
- Leverage multiple platforms and collaborate with stakeholders to identify topics, design content, and vet key points for newsletters, success decks, and other communications.
- Manage DAS town halls and learning sessions to foster engagement and knowledge sharing.
- Oversee team and initiative documentation on Confluence/SharePoint to ensure effective information flow among working groups, steering committees, executives, and domain experts.
- Create meaningful metrics to manage team performance, document annual deliverables, and report on scorecard KPIs quarterly to provide an accurate view of DAS’s impact and success.
- Foster strong working relationships with various stakeholders and partners to articulate, measure, and solve challenges effectively.
What Do You Need to Succeed?
Must Have:
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to see the big picture and align project goals with Capital Markets and RBC’s overarching strategic objectives.
- Proven written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to tailor communication and analysis to meet audience needs.
- Strong organizational, operational management, performance management, and consensus-building capabilities.
- A solid understanding of technology and the financial services industry, with an aptitude to build domain knowledge and management skillsets.
- Demonstrated ability to foster strong working relationships across functional teams while acting with diplomacy and professionalism.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience managing operational activities for technology teams and understanding the role of architecture in an organization.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, including the ability to organize internal events such as learning sessions.
- Skilled in facilitating meetings and driving actionable outcomes with decision-makers.
