Job Description AltaGas - Surface Land Administrator
AltaGas is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Surface Land Coordinator to support the development, construction, and operation of midstream infrastructure projects. This role is key to ensuring land-related activities are executed efficiently and in alignment with regulatory requirements and AltaGas’ Core Values.
You will:
- Inputting, maintaining and administering surface leases, mineral leases, easements and rent review notifications within the land management system in compliance with OMS program policies and procedures.
- Complete assignment of surface rights and maintain records as required.
- Internal and external stakeholder engagement, including landowners, regulatory bodies, land agents etc. to ensure accurate file management and contractual obligations are met.
- Processing/issuing of land payments to meet contractual obligations.
- Reporting surface land information as required i.e. yearly budget forecasting per business unit.
- Communicating with internal and external groups regarding land acquisition, divestitures, overlap requests, asset retirement, project planning, management of changes, etc.
- Working closely with the Land Team on internal processes to ensure the Operations Management System, Land program and business needs/midstream objectives are met and provide recommendations to increase efficiencies within these processes.
- Coordinate survey and land broker services needed for Crown disposition renewals.
- Prepare and coordinate the issuance and execution of all third-party agreements.
- Coordinate issuing road use agreements and road use invoices.
- Set up and update new land vendors in AltaGas enterprise resource planning software.
- Respond to landowner queries.
- Liaison among field staff, accounting, operations personnel, legal, industry representatives, etc.
- Perform database administrator responsibilities, such as maintaining and updating First Call and shape files as required
- Analyze and respond to municipal subdivision notifications
You have:
- 3+ years of experience in surface land position, preferably in oil & gas or midstream.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta and BC land systems, regulations, and industry practices.
- Petroleum Land Administration Certification (or similar) is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and land management software.
