Reporting to the Director, Investment Finance, we are looking for a Senior Accounting Analyst to join a highly skilled team, working closely together to prepare the financial reporting and analysis of a diverse investment portfolio within the Asset Management Division. You will also collaborate with operational, technology, data, investment teams and other finance departments to prepare financial information, reconcile investment transactions, and support accounting and reporting processes within the division, The position provides exposure to a broad range of investment classes and reporting activities as well as opportunities to contribute to process improvements and team project work.

**Work Arrangements:**This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and deliver timely, accurate, relevant and concise financial information for asset management division
- Prepare monthly accruals and accounts payable for the division
- Ensure documentation of procedures for account reconciliation and internal controls is prepared and maintained to reduce operational risk
- Teach, train and mentor Accounting Analysts on key processes and procedures
- Identify and troubleshoot issues that arise during the financial reporting process
- Complete the fair value analysis for corporate taxation
- Assistance with monthly asset pricing validation
- Reconcile asset classes between the general ledger and investment administration systems (ePAM, Mortgage system, etc.)
- Prepare accounting entries and reports (performance, financial, Board, management) for various investment related assets
- Accounting, settlements and analysis for derivative instruments and hedging activities
- Prepare quarterly working paper and suspense account reconciliations with appropriate supporting schedules
- Preparation of monthly manual accounting entries related to segregated funds
- Assist with preparation of annual and semi-annual statement of investment portfolios and financial highlights for the segregated funds
- Prepare LICAT and other ad hoc reports for the actuaries
- Complete assigned schedules for the company’s annual report
- Complete quarterly and annual assigned OSFI schedules on a timely basis
- Complete various industry and statistical information requests and surveys
- Provide information to Internal Audit and External Auditors, as requested, for items related to Investment Finance
- Back-up for Senior Financial Analysts in various tasks at times when there is staff shortage or on a rotational basis
- Communicate with vendors and third parties to the company (system providers, swap counterparties, etc)
- Assistance and participation on ad hoc projects
What you’ll bring:
- Post-secondary education with emphasis on accounting and business administration
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience with investment and life insurance experience and asset
- Proficient with general accounting concepts – including working knowledge of IFRS
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced problem solving, prioritizing and analytical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft
- Minimum intermediate Excel skills (XLOOKUP, IF statements, INDEX/MATCH, array formulas)
- Basic knowledge of SQL or PowerQuery would be an asset
