Join our team as a Quality Assurance Lead and play a pivotal role in safeguarding food safety and quality at our manufacturing site. In this leadership position, you will drive the strategic execution of food safety programs, lead cross-functional collaboration, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. As the Food Safety Team Leader, you will champion a culture of continuous improvement, guiding the plant toward operational excellence through robust systems such as HACCP, FSMS, and FSSC 22000. Reporting to the Plant Quality Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of food safety and quality at the site.
As a Quality Assurance Lead , you will oversee the plant’s food safety programs, ensuring robust implementation and continuous improvement. Serving as the Food Safety Team Leader, you will provide strategic leadership and expert guidance on food safety systems, including HACCP and prerequisite programs. You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), aligned with FSSC 22000 standards and all applicable regulatory requirements.
This role report to the plant Quality Manager
What You Will Do:
- Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of Food Safety Management System (FSMS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and company standards.
- Serve as the Food Safety Team Leader, providing strategic leadership, consultation, and direction to operations and the Plant Leadership Team (PLT) on food safety matters.
- Maintain up-to-date expertise in GMP, GFSI, sanitation, and food defense best practices, ensuring alignment with FSSC 22000 standards.
- Collaborate with operations to identify and resolve deficiencies in food safety systems, driving corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Act as lead auditor for food safety and quality systems, conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Support and uphold certifications and standards such as ISO 17025, Non-GMO, Kosher, and Halal, ensuring site-wide conformity.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives using tools like Lean Six Sigma and SPC, while developing food safety skills and decision-making capabilities across site teams.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific or technical field, with a strong foundation in food safety and quality systems.
- 5+ years of experience in quality and food safety within a food manufacturing environment, preferably in Corn Wet Milling.
- Extensive knowledge of ISO 9001, GMPs, and quality control systems, with lead auditor training for FSSC 22000 or other GFSI schemes.
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), with additional certification in food defense considered an asset.
- Experience with ISO 17025 auditing and supporting specialized certifications such as Non-GMO, Kosher, and Halal.

Pay Range: $82,640.00-$110,186.67 Annual
This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
Incentive Compensation: As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
