The Northern Opportunity This is a dynamic, highly operational and hands-on leadership role based in YELLOWKNIFE, at the heart of the North. This position requires frequent travel to various CBC/Radio-Canada locations within the Corporation. CBC/Radio-Canada's Finance Team is seeking a Senior Manager to be an integral part of the Senior Finance Management team supporting the News Division, English Services. In your role, you will be directly involved in the critical internal and external financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
This role offers a unique opportunity to live and work in the vibrant North. As part of our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent in Yellowknife, this position includes northern living allowances.
This role is a hybrid work arrangement.
Your Impact in the North You will develop strong relationships with your clients through ongoing service to support their business objectives and the effective management of their budget resources. You will be a valuable member of the News Finance team, providing crucial insight into risk and results to senior management. This role requires you to implement management tools enabling effective resource planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the annual budget process for CBC North, including coordination with other CBC departments.
- Develop and maintain in-year forecasts for CBC North.
- Analyze and interpret variances and trends for departmental results.
- Develop and maintain ad-hoc analysis for business cases.
- Identify and present recommendations for continuous process improvement.
- Present results to senior management and various stakeholders through developing presentations and reports.
Leadership
- Negotiate with managers to meet both their needs and management accounting objectives.
- Build and focus strategies for the English Finance function that complement and expand the broader CBC Finance strategy.
- Exercise leadership and influence by mentoring colleagues and elevating team performance while cultivating a motivating, positive environment.
- Requires a highly developed sense of client service, enabling the incumbent to listen to clients and correctly interpret each department's particular needs.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other leaders across the function and organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a large financial management environment; broadcasting experience is preferred.
- A Professional accounting designation (such as CPA) is a strong asset.
- Previous experience in a leadership position, including overseeing direct staff, setting objectives, and coordinating work is required. The job requires the ability to guide and direct a team of individuals at various levels.
- Superior Excel skills and experience working with Google products, Oracle and Workday is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and interact with employees, business managers, and management of several departments in order to coordinate various activities.
- Ability to deal with several, sometimes conflicting priorities under pressure in order to meet deadlines and meet multiple urgent demands within tight timeframes.
- Analytical mind, good judgment, and great flexibility for work schedules, to serve a diversified clientele and cope with numerous changes.
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
