The Role We’re looking for a Press Operator who will be responsible for operating a multi-color large format sheet fed press (Heidelberg or Koenig & Bauer (KBA)) to manufacture printed materials for our valued clients in an efficient manner.
This role will be on a 2 week rotational shift on Day Shift (7:30am – 3:30pm), Afternoon Shift (3:30pm – 11:30pm) and Night Shift (11:30pm – 7:30am).
Key Responsibilities
- Read and understand the job docket and ensure all instructions are followed
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, resolve press and job related problems
- Train and direct the press crew in the proper methods of operating and maintaining the press
- Ensure all crew members follow and adhere to all safety regulations and work safely, reporting injuries, occurrences or near misses to Supervisors
- Establish competencies relating to junior positions on the press crew
- Ensure register and color consistency on all printed material and that contents match proofs/samples
- Understand all functions of the machine and applicable processes
- Perform general preventative maintenance to press
- General clean up of work area after each job, keeping work area neat and tidy
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experiences
- Secondary School Diploma, with experience operating Heidelberg or Koenig & BauerPrint Presses consistently and proficiently
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of Lithography such as trap, ink and water balance, colour control, registration, basic trouble shooting skills and quality control practices and procedures
- An understanding of the various substrates, inks and coating types and their applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs
- Willingness to be trained in lift trucks and WHMIS
