St. Teresa of Calcutta is looking for a Cafeteria Worker to join their team! The position involves the distribution of catered daily breakfast for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. In addition, the successful candidate will organize, prepare, and distribute a daily snack to Kindergarten to Grade 6 students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and preparation
- Assist in developing operational plans
- Work with the manager and school staff to plan and coordinate catering for special events
- Participate in general menu planning for the week and specific daily menus
- Assist the manager in inventory control activities including food, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain records and reports (e.g. counting and recording the amount of leftovers, and number of opened cans to keep an accurate record of food used
- Food Service
- Set up and prepare food in accordance with the daily menu plan
- Prepare food and beverage items according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures
- Serve students and staff at the counter
- Ensure adequate supply of beverages, snacks etc. are available
- Prepare and deliver food and beverages for in-school meetings and events
- Facility service
- Ensure the cafeteria is accessible during regular hours
- Remove used dishes and clean the counter, table, and furniture in the area
- Ensure the kitchen area is cleared and dishes, utensils, equipment, and linens are washed
- Ensure the food service area exceeds standards for cleanliness and safety
- Advise manager of equipment malfunctions and the need for replacement or repairs
- School support
- Participate in special events and celebrations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager and principal
- Assist co-workers during peak periods and to handle heavy workload
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, plus two years of related experience
- Safe Food Alberta or equivalent certification is required
- Knowledge of food preparation principles and practices, and inventory control principles
- Knowledge of the safe handling of food, tools, equipment, and Occupational Health and Safety practices and procedures
- Awareness of the school’s programs and operations
Work Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday - Mornings (3 hours each day)
Year-Round School (August to June)
