About the role

Dexter Construction is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a Journeyman Industrial or Construction Electrician based out of Bedford, NS.

Job Summary This position supports multiple site operations across Atlantic Canada, with primary focus being directed towards mobile crushing and screening operations.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work with the maintenance department to perform daily maintenance, setup, and repair of electrical infrastructure.
  • Assist with repairs and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment used in mobile production plants and facilities.
  • Help with tearing down and setting up mobile crushing equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Diagnose and repair the root cause of electrical malfunction.
  • Analyze failure of production equipment and take corrective & preventative actions.
  • Keep electrical documentation and manuals organized.
  • Report progress on projects and daily issues.
  • Report inventory parts levels to assure efficient operations.
  • Be aware of surroundings at all times
  • Ensure safety of fellow employees.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, And Education

  • Must have 3+ years of experience as a Licensed Industrial or Construction Electrician.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be well versed in construction site protocols, rules, and code of conduct.
  • Knowledge of training practices, and willingness to be able to be further trained.
  • Knowledge in using computers for data entry and information retrieval purposes.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks, requiring the use of independent judgement and action.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly.
  • Willingness to work long hours (when required) and travel within the Maritimes.
  • Working safely is a condition of employment.

Working Conditions This position may require physically strenuous activities, such as: lifting, pulling, crouching, bending, etc. This position will require the use of PPE; hardhat, steel toe boots, and reflective vest apparel, to minimize risk on the worksite.
