About The Role The VP, Credit & Pricing Strategy leads the development, governance, and execution of credit and pricing strategies for the SME portfolio. This role ensures balanced risk and profitability through disciplined credit underwriting, pricing frameworks, and market-responsive adjustments.

What you’ll do

Credit Risk and Pricing Policies and Strategies

  • Develop data driven strategies that enable Element to accept and price risk at scale, through entirely automated processes
  • Recommend strategies to Element CRO and lead the oversight of approved model and associated portfolio management.
  • Design and manage pricing models for SME that can be optimized for profitability, growth and/or risk management based on evolving priorities of Element and evolution of the market.
  • Partner with product teams to develop risk and pricing models for financing constructs new to the US/Canada business at Element, including but not limited to closed lease, loans and 3rd party referral partnerships.
  • Lead transformation initiatives, process improvements, and technology-enabled analytics that enhance credit and pricing decision-making

Credit and Pricing Research & Insights

  • Lead analytics to assess credit performance, pricing effectiveness, and market dynamics.
  • Lead research into non-traditional credit risk metrics, e.g. telematics and vehicle usage.
  • Lead quantitative and qualitative analyses to optimize pricing models, including competitive benchmarking, margin analysis, and elasticity modeling. Recommend adjustments to maximize profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Validate and present portfolio performance metrics including delinquency rates, loss ratios, approval rates, and yield. Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for proactive interventions.
  • Lead activities to monitor SME lending market trends, competitor moves, and macroeconomic shifts; integrate insights into credit and pricing recommendations.
  • Identify emerging technologies, with a special focus on AI tools that could prove useful in developing enhanced credit and risk management models.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Sales, Product, and Finance to structure deals that meet client needs while protecting margins
  • Assist Element in building out corporate expertise in data driven decision making beyond the SME business.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and growth.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to ensure employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure resource allocation and workload distribution for effective service delivery.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Math, Finance, Economics or related field with a quantitative focus;
  • 10+ years in product management or leasing leadership roles.
  • Proven P&L ownership and strategy execution experience.
  • Knowledge of leasing, asset finance, and SME credit underwriting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree preferred.

Location: Toronto

The base salary range for this position is $180,000-$220,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
