Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Shipping Associate is a dynamic role responsible for ensuring the accurate dispensing, packaging, and shipment of pharmaceutical products. This position combines the responsibilities of assisting pharmacists with dispensing medications and handling material logistics in a fast-paced environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Package medications according to specifications for shipment to customers.
  • Perform day-to-day shipping, receiving, and packaging of pharmaceutical products.
  • Print labels/waybills, prepare products, and invoices for shipping.
  • Maintain a clean and safe shipping and receiving area, coordinating pickups and deliveries with couriers.
  • Monitor shipping materials, supplies, and inventory management, reporting discrepancies to the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Adhere to all relevant guidelines, including McKesson's SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide exemplary customer service via phone and email, aligning with McKesson Canada standards.
  • Create and maintain patient files in pharmacy software, including Kroll.
  • Manage site calendars, appointments, dispensing, and shipping schedules.
  • Accurately dispense and package medications to ensure timely arrival at the appropriate destinations.
  • Understand and resolve third-party billing issues by liaising with adjudicators and plan administrators.
  • Bill prescriptions through pharmacy software, ensuring comprehensive documentation is maintained.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct patient follow-up calls for outstanding accounts, refills, and shipment scheduling.
  • Refer all medical queries to a pharmacist when interacting with patients.
  • Perform other duties, including administrative and/or dispensing tasks, as assigned.

Key Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Secondary School Diploma or High School Diploma.
  • Previous work experience in a retail pharmacy or warehouse setting is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Capable of physical tasks, including lifting up to 35 pounds independently. Carrying, bending, stretching, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take direction and work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to learn and use various technology
  • Effective communication, both oral and written; multilingualism is an asset.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software; knowledge of Kroll is an asset.

Experience:

  • Experience in a specialty pharmacy or warehouse/distribution setting is an asset.

Communication:

  • Proficient in English oral and written communication.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
