POSITION TYPE: Regular Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Lumenus Community Services is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Community Counselling and Intensive Programs within the Youth Division.

The successful candidate will provide counselling/psychotherapy/family therapy and service coordination to children (0-12) across Brief Services, Community Counselling, and Intensive Milieu Programs. This role supports a wide range of mental health concerns, including emotional, behavioural, and psychiatric symptoms that affect functioning at home, school, socially, or in the community. Situational challenges may include family conflict, bullying, trauma, substance use, and difficulties related to psychiatric diagnoses. Therapeutic support is evidence-based, youth-centered, and responsive to the diverse needs of clients and their families.

Experience with and/or lived experience of oppression, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and/or personal connections to queer or trans communities of colour, including newcomer and disability communities, is considered an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate assessments and treatment plans; provide therapeutic counselling using Evidence-Based and Evidence-Informed Practices.

  • Provide holistic, trauma-informed, and family-centered clinical service.

  • Apply approaches that promote health equity, including anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice.

  • Collaborate with youth, families, and service providers.

  • Provide crisis support, risk mitigation, and safety planning.

  • Liaise with multidisciplinary professionals.

  • Provide service coordination for clients with multiple needs.

  • Align work with agency mission, vision, values, and policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline authorized to practice psychotherapy in Ontario.

  • Membership in good standing with appropriate regulatory body.

  • Minimum 2 years related experience.

  • Strong knowledge of individual and family therapy techniques.

  • Experience working with youth experiencing mental health challenges.

  • Knowledge of anti-oppressive and anti-racist practices.

  • Ability to work sensitively with diverse identities and experiences.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of multiple evidence-informed modalities.

  • Experience with brief and single-session models.

  • Strong suicide risk assessment and intervention skills.

  • Sound judgment in high-risk situations.

  • Strong understanding of youth development.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Group facilitation skills.

  • Strong writing, organizational, and administrative abilities.

  • Ability to identify learning needs and seek supervision.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening.

  • Ability to travel within community and office locations.

  • Flexibility to work two evenings per week.
