About the Role
Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Coordinator, this position will be responsible for maintaining a clean working and living environment within the Residence Services complexes. The incumbent will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining all offices, common areas and hotel rooms throughout the academic year and summer months. Taking direction from the Housekeeping Coordinator, the incumbent will be assigned daily duties that will involve cleaning throughout the entire complex and results must meet the standards defined by the Coordinator. This position requires the climbing of stairs, walking of long distances between the West and East residences and the incumbent must be able to operate all equipment such as mops, floor scrubber and buffers, etc.
This position will be required to work dates outside of the regularly scheduled work week and requires medium physical exertion, visual concentration, manual dexterity and/or strain. The schedule for this position is 9am - 5pm Thursday - Mondays, working 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities
General Cleaning of Common Areas
- Sweep, vacuum and mop all floor surfaces and stairwells.
- Empty garbage and recycling containers, replenish paper dispensers and clean all toilet and bathroom fixtures.
- Clean all glass materials and ledges including high and low dusting and the periodic cleaning of certain areas including wall washing.
- Clean common floor surfaces with heavy cleaning equipment and floor scrubbers on a regular basis.
HotelandStudentR****oom Changeovers
- Service hotel and student units on check in/out, including bed making and the general cleaning of bedrooms, washrooms, kitchens and living rooms, etc.
- Report maintenance issues as needed and clean rooms to standards set by the housekeeping coordinator in a timely manner.
- Act as team-lead position during our peak conference season (May to August), including the inspection of hotel units.
Laundry Room Duties
- Work in the laundry room operating the commercial washer, dryer and dishwasher machines and ironing and folding all linen products.
- Clean and organize all houseware kitchen kits and other related items.
Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and 18 - 24 months of related cleaning and hospitality experience are required.

Must be able to operate cleaning related equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers etc) and able to physically manage cleaning areas like stairwells.
