Security Officer (6-Month Contract, Potential for Extension)
**Site Description:**Sacred Heart Community Health Centre is a short-term treatment facility located in the Village of Cheticamp. As a community health centre, it serves the communities of Cheticamp, Margaree and surrounding areas.
**Position Details:**Please note that this is a temporary full-time contract position. Selected candidates will initially be assigned to work in the construction zone of a healthcare facility while receiving healthcare security training provided by Paladin. Upon completion of the construction phase, and depending on operational needs, there may be an opportunity to transition into a Casual Healthcare Security Officer role.
**Position:**Full time Security Officer
**Site:**Construction zone behind Sacred Heart Community Health Centre
Payrate:$19
**Schedule:**4-day on, 4-day off; 1800-0600 hrs
Key Responsibilities:
-**Patrol Assigned Grounds:**Patrol client properties by foot to ensure the safety and security of the site, and politely direct disruptive individuals to leave the premises -**Monitor Surveillance Systems:**Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. -Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the client site, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. -**Respond to Emergencies:**Act quickly in emergency situations, such as fire alarms or security threats. Assist site staff as needed during crises and evacuations. -**Conflict Resolution:**De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. -**Report Writing:**Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns. -Collaboration with site Stakeholders: Provide specialized security services and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders -**Enforce Hospital Policies:**Follow and enforce rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Address any violations in a manner that upholds client properties safety standards
Prerequisites:
- Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
