Position Overview
As a Food and Beverage Server at Cabot, you should share a passion for service excellence and infuse enthusiasm into everything you do. You are an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our Cabot Cape Breton dining experience. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to connect with guests, vendors, and associates. You are proud to represent the Cabot brand, and proactively act as an ambassador and role model of exceptional service.

- Knowledge of Food and Beverages : Cultivate a genuine interest in food and beverages, including learning about menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and pairings, to make informed recommendations to customers.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Previous experience serving an asset
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol in NS (19)
- Previous hospitality training and education an asset, though not required
- Serve Right certification encouraged
- Must have experience with Point of Sales systems (i.e. Micros)
- Knowledge of wines, scotches, ports and liqueurs an asset
- Must have some knowledge of international cuisines and cooking techniques
- Must be professional, personable and well-presented
- Ability to work flexible hours – weekends and evenings as required
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have exceptional organizational skills and be detail oriented
- A Degree or Diploma in Hotel/Hospitality or Tourism an asset
Requirements Of The Role You Should Be Aware Of
- Based on the nature of our business and the service we provide to our guests, to work with us, you must consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional criminal background check every two years.
- As a seasonal resort business, you can anticipate a schedule that will involve day, evening, night, and weekend work.
- Long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, and crouching while performing other duties is to be expected
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and otherwise moving objects up to 75 lbs in weight
- Frequently ascending or descending stairs and ramps
- There may be interactions with patrons who are impaired
- Constant focus and repetitive work are to be expected
- Based on the nature of this position, you would experience long periods of guest interactions
