Job Summary As a Quality Line Leader for our Twin Otter and DH515 product lines, you will provide oversight to our Quality Management System throughout the manufacturing process. This process includes integrating major structures, aircraft ground and flight testing, as well as certification activities to achieve a Certificate of Airworthiness. You will also play a key role in meeting the goals of the business in today’s challenging and changing environment.

Direct Accountabilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment for our employees.
  • Achieve the required product quality performance by reinforcing and implementing the quality management system.
  • Plan, implement and control quality functional activities (i.e., Effective, and efficient Inspection plan execution, Non-Conformance management, MRB, Etc.) within Manufacturing lines of the Twin Otter and DH515 Programs.
  • Manage, train, coach, develop, and provide feedback to a group of Inspectors, QEs, SQEs, and Certification personnel.
  • Ensure that all team members understand their role and performance in achieving the Business Unit targets.
  • Utilize problem solving, corrective action and continuous improvement tools to ensure best practices are being developed and implemented within our quality management system via product and process assurance, and progressive certification of Aircraft Build within our manufacturing lines.
  • Ensure the right resources are available to meet projected workload delivery on quality, cost and schedule.
  • Maintain an equitable work environment.
  • Collaborate with the facility and IT teams to provide the necessary hardware and software infrastructure for quality control activities.
  • Oversee team attendance and scheduling, ensuring appropriate coverage and approving time-off requests to maintain consistent staffing within the QC team.
  • Assign high severity or repetitive NCRs/issues to local Quality or Supplier Quality Engineer.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing QC team by leveraging individual strengths, promoting open communication, and building a foundation of trust and mutual respect. Serve as a key liaison between quality and other departments to ensure effective collaboration and successful project delivery.

Indirect Accountabilities

  • Maintain and ensure budgetary requirements of the responsible departments.
  • Actively support inspection activities, as well as achieve Material Review Board (MRB) certification to support the Non-Conformance Management process and product compliance.

Education Required

  • University degree in a technical, quality, or program management discipline.

Experience, Skills, And Attitude Required

  • Minimum of one to three (1-3) years management experience in Quality (Aviation experience preferred).
  • In depth knowledge and experience in Quality Control / Assurance, Inspection tools, MRB, Flight Testing, Aircraft Certification, corrective and preventive actions methodology, and manufacturing systems.
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.

Assets

  • Valid Transport Canada AME license or equivalent would be an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to travel between various locations in Calgary.
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required.
  • Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and manufacturing equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection are typically required.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods while overseeing production and inspection activities.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of parts, tools, or inspection equipment (generally up to :25 lbs).
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for reviewing parts, documentation, and inspection data.
  • Schedule may include day, evening, or weekend shifts depending on operation schedules.
