Creating the future vision for one of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada’s most prized treasures, Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) located at 55 Pavilion Crescent in Winnipeg is the not-for-profit organization that oversees Assiniboine Park’s operations and ensures its ongoing redevelopment and financial viability. Our team is inspired to create and deliver extraordinary experiences for the people who visit and use the Park and Zoo including building friendly, supportive, effective relationships with stakeholders, community and the general public.

The Opportunity

APC is seeking a seasonal Cook to work with Banquets & Catering. As a Cook your main objective is to prepare and present menu items as set out by the Banquet Chef ensuring safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all aspects of your work. A Third Cook is an entry level development culinary role, responsible for the preparation and presentation of menu items set out by the Chef. You will collaborate with the kitchen team to handle the demands of our fast-paced environment, all while maintaining our high standards of quality. This is a seasonal part-time position (up to 40 hours/week) that requires a flexible work schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Working towards a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Food Handling Certification is an asset.
  • Prior experience working in a kitchen as dishwasher or other culinary entry role considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to follow recipes, direction, and safety procedures while working effectively with others.
  • Candidates must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position which includes standing for long periods and heavy lifting.
