About the role

CMM Programmer

The CMM Programmer position is responsible for following and maintaining all customer and company quality requirements. Primarily accountable for training and assisting production, quality, customers and suppliers when needed. In addition, facilitate the process of continuous improvement on the shop ensuring all measuring programs meeting customer print requirements.

Performance Expectations

  • Plan effectively to ensure all assigned duties are completed on schedule.
  • Ensure proper operation of coordinate measuring machines.
  • Keep programs and instruction binders up-to-date with any process or engineering changes as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Instruct, train and test employees on the proper use of gauges and inspection of equipment.
  • Review and recall latest geometric call-ups.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on CMM’s and maintain/update maintenance log.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments, co-workers and supervisors in both oral and written form. When quality standards are not met, raise appropriate notices to production personnel ensuring corrections can be made.

Credentials

  • High School Diploma or equivalent general education.
  • Working towards QA Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Computer literate.
  • Previous programming experience and knowledge of specific software (CMM’s); knowledge of programming techniques in applicable programming language. Exposure to machining practices, experience with Meterology, SPC, knowledge of GDT, measuring techniques, gauging, and inspection equipment.
