As an Air Quality Specialist, you will join our Air Permitting and Compliance (Air P&C) team in our Environmental Sciences and Planning service line. We are looking to hire a motivated individual with demonstrated experience providing technical direction and strategy, as well as supporting and delivering projects on schedule and on budget. The successful applicant will have a primarily remote based role, and will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:

Actively participate in and promote Montrose’s strong safety culture.

Support Air P&C projects with varying complexity
- Support a multi-disciplinary project team to undertake small and large-scale projects.
- Contribute to the success of a collaborative team and function effectively within it.
- Conduct reviews of projects including strategy, procedures, communication, and deliverables.
- Design, evaluate, and execute work across a range of project types.

Execute effective client communication and project management
- Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project stakeholders.
- Ensure client objectives and expectations are met and exceeded, while maintaining project scope, budget, schedule and technical quality.
- Collaborate with clients, approval agencies, and sub-consultants.

Ensure effective internal communication and collaboration to deliver high-quality products that meet our clients’ unique project needs.

Coordinate with internal project teams across various disciplines, including engineers, environmental scientists, technicians, physicists, and chemists.

Manage client communications and expectations.

Prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates.

Function effectively within and contribute to the success of a collaborative team.

Mentor and develop junior staff members.

Execute dispersion modelling assessments of varying complexity for permitting and incident assessment scenarios.

Proactively engage in development opportunities to support your career growth.

Contribute to the strategic direction of Montrose’s growing team and work types.
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance and permitting, specifically air related regulatory impact assessment, dispersion modelling, permitting and compliance strategy
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field
- Licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian jurisdiction is an asset
- Knowledge and experience with AERMOD modeling software is a requirement, experience with other dispersion models such as CalPuff, Phast and Aloha is an asset
- Knowledge of current regulations, permitting and legislation in federal and provincial jurisdictions
- Ability to effectively manage projects and client relationships
- Strong ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to prioritize effectively
- Possess a valid Class G driver’s license and a clean driving record
