Explore your next role:

As a key member of the Accessory Shop team, the NDT Technician will report to the Accessory Shop Supervisor and will be responsible for setting up and calibrating equipment, performing non-destructive tests, conducting evaluations of testing and/or inspections, and maintaining results in compliance with legislated industry codes, standards, and procedures.

Perform NDT Testing Duties

  • Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 certification in Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) qualifications are mandatory.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the additional Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 qualification of Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Eddy Current Testing (ET).
  • Set up and calibrate equipment to conduct non-destructive tests according to the material type, thickness, and other related variables, while using standard formulas.
  • Conduct tests on parts, structures, and other materials using non-destructive techniques ensuring all established procedures are followed.
  • Inspections on aircraft, engines, and all related components to ensure quality or to detect defects in accordance with the NDT method being used.
  • Perform additional tests if the initial results are inconclusive.
  • Maintain all NDT equipment by conducting systems performance checks in accordance with manufacturer and industry recommendations.
  • Identify manufacturing defects or other hidden flaws in test equipment or materials being used such as cracks, metal fatigue, defects in welds and joints that may weaken materials or cause fatigue damage.

Evaluate NDT Testing Results

  • Evaluate and interpret test results using designated standards.
  • Prepare written reports outlining findings and conclusions including design drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and prepared in compliance with customer, industry, and company standards.
  • Communicate and work closely with internal and external stakeholders about test results, work priorities, repair requirements, and progress of projects.

Safety Duties

  • Review tasks for compliance.
  • Proactively suggest recommendations to improve existing NDT processes and procedures.
  • Participate in audits performance by the SRMS department as they relate to the Company.
  • Ensure all inspections pertaining to NDT are carried out and signed for.
  • Proactively provide feedback to Heavy Maintenance Management regarding findings and quality checks

Additional Duties

  • Maintain the work area in a neat and tidy condition.
  • Maintain tool control and calibration of NDT equipment and company hand tools.
  • Actively participate in Voyageur’s Safety Management System including reporting hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations.

Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:

  • Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 certification in NDT methods (Penetrant Testing (PT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Required
  • Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level 2 certification in NDT methods (Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and/or Eddy Current Testing (ET) considered an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of NDT techniques, services, and procedures.
  • Fundamental understanding of NDT industry codes, regulations, and practices.
  • College diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering, Technology, or Business is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of aircraft parts, repair process, WinAir, MRB requirements, and CARs (Canadian Aviation Regulations) is considered an asset.
  • Experience in Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word.
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to identify solutions.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The employee in this role will be expected to maintain CGSB qualifications.
