About the role

Purpose:
York University is dedicated to promoting student success and ensuring that students have high quality experiential learning experiences throughout their academic experience to provide every student equitable access to professional, integrated career education supports so they graduate with the confidence to manage their careers in a constantly changing world. Reporting to the Associate Director, Co-op and Career Education Communications, the Communications and Marketing Coordinator participates in the planning, design, development, implementation, coordination, measurement, reporting, and ongoing maintenance of communications and marketing activities for Co-op and Career Education across York University. The role is responsible for liaising with partners across the University as well as external groups to support the creation of impactful content. The role must keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices as it relates to web design, user experience, social media, digital marketing and digital communications.

Education:
University degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Publishing, Design or related field, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
3 years recent related experience in communications, marketing, design and website development (e.g., Web design and maintenance, graphic design, content development, calendar maintenance etc.) in a post-secondary or similar environment.

Skills:
Ability to write and edit web and social media content.
Ability to craft communications that reflect the diversity of the target audience.

Working effectively under pressure of high volume to meet unit goals and objectivesTechnical.
Web development and maintenance.
Content management systems (e.g. WordPress, Drupal). customer relationship management (CRM) and client management database systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamic CRM, Symplicity or other software).
Google Analytics. social media publishing and listening tools (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Falcon, Sysomos, etc) and strategy/content development, application packages (Microsoft Office 365 suite).
Graphic design tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
Video editing tools (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut, After Effects).
Knowledge of web accessibility and ability to create AODA-compliant websites and PDFs.
