Job Summary:
Reporting to the Fertilizer Facility Operator, the Assistant Facility Operator will work together to ensuring the safe, effective and efficient operations of a Fertilizer facility business, with a strong focus on Anhydrous Ammonia. This role requires strong fertilizer industry expertise and experience both in and out of season and will provide seasonal support for other aspects of our Sexsmith Fertilizer operations.

Responsibilities: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the UFA fertilizer facility including blending / receiving of product, general site maintenance and duties when schedule allows. Inspect all NH3 units both pre & post season along with 5-year inspection of all nurse units. Deliver Nurse wagons directly to customer locations. Perform in season maintenance on all nurse wagons and delivery units as well as identify any upcoming needs, including in-field repairs for customers, co-workers and 3rd party co workers associated with UFA. Able to procure parts required for both in & out of season maintenance. Organize and execute all legally required 3rd party inspections of both UFA and customer owned NH3 assets. Provide after hours call out assistance for customers and 3rd party contractors in season.

Qualifications: Minimum 3 years industry experience. Anhydrous Ammonia ticket considered an asset. Industry knowledge in Bulk Fertilizer and Anhydrous Ammonia including the ability to understand and interpret Anhydrous Ammonia rules and regulations. Warehouse/Yard and forklift experience. Valid drivers license required: Class 3 not required but considered an asset. Capable of physical labour; including lifting items up to 25kg. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Must be able to remain current with all required certifications, including WHMIS, TDG and NH3 standards. Flexible to accommodate fluctuating work hours including in season on call. Basic computer literacy skills considered an asset.

This is a safety sensitive position as it will be on site at UFA facilities and will be using UFA material handling equipment. The successful applicant will be required to pass (negative result) a drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment.
