Job Overview Responsible for ownership of category planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle and the growth of the base business by bringing profitable innovation to the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy and execution of the company’s long-term plan (LTP) within their specific categories/channels
- Develop new product opportunities using a sound business case approach based on market data, focus groups, and other sources on trends in the marketplace
- Own the full product development process from strategy to execution – working in conjunction with product development, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
- Gain organizational alignment around these strategies and plans, including Sr. Management team and sales
- Own, manage and analyze new product costing and creation of product specifications for new products
- Prepare and present business reviews and marketing plans for multiple categories
- Responsible for developing the next generation of leaders within the department
- Set project guidelines and expectations with the report, providing assistance and acting as a resource where applicable
- Share category expertise acquired through custom and syndicated research, internet searches and market visits
- Create and analyze sales and category reports
- Participate in new product sensory tastings and part of the plant trial team and first production runs where required
- Create and reviews packaging, label design/copy and artwork
- Actively live and role model our Leadership competencies by holding self and team (including all direct report ‘people leaders’) accountable for creating a positive work environment and culture through administration of our People Processes and Tools.
- Performance Management: Ensure proper onboarding and development of all staff by completing induction process, coaching and developing capabilities, executing PDP start/mid-year dialogues, and engaging in corrective action when required
- Talent & Succession: Ensure job vacancies are filled by completing the required processes and representing the company with integrity throughout the recruitment process
- Training: Ensure completion of function compliance training
- Engagement: Ensure an engaged workforce through development of sound working relationships and execution of Employee Survey action plans
- Company Values (RDQAS): Ensure teams model our Company values and hold others accountable for the same
Recipe For Success
- Completion of a university diploma in Marketing, Business, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a Product Marketing role
- Requires experience creating marketing and selling materials (brochures, sell sheets, website and social media content, presentations)
- Solid understanding of urgency in responding to internal (other departments) and external (suppliers, agencies, customers) partners
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, with a strong understanding of Excel
