How you will make a difference:
United Way Greater Toronto is looking for a Digital Communications Student Placement (PNSG) in a contract role (up to 3 months) to join our team.
Reporting to the Director, Peel Newcomer Strategy Group (PNSG), the Digital Communications Student Placement (PNSG), will support digital and print communications, improvements to our Peelnewcomer.org web site, and general team support related to the Newcomer-Inclusive Communities Project.
Upon successful completion of the internship, the student will be able to:
- Understand how the knowledge and skills gained through their academic program of study can be applied within a professional workplace environment
- Develop new knowledge and understanding to facilitate connections between theory and practice
- Demonstrate gains in personal development (e.g., heightened self-awareness, knowledge of work and personal values, career and professional development)
- Articulate transferable skills and career competencies
- Identify areas for future learning and skill development
Key responsibilities include:

Support digital and print communications templates for partner organizations for events, online announcements, etc.

Contribute to the understanding and documentation of PNSG’s role in communications

Supporting improvements and updates of the www.peelnewcomer.org web site (e.g. content update and integration of the monthly e-newsletter, adding a calendar of events)

Contribute to secretariat functions for our partner engagement tables

Lead writer for several versions of our monthly e-newsletter
What you bring to the role:
-
Post-secondary education combined with work experience in digital communications, digital marketing or equivalent combination
-
Understanding of newcomer programs and services, including knowledge of settlement, government and community resources.

Project management experience and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
-
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
-
Excellent written communication and visual design skills Funding support from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
