About the role

Are you a talented financial services professional with investigations and dispute resolution experience interested in public service and contributing to financial fairness and justice? We are currently looking for Senior Investigators to join our ombudsman team.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000

Workplace Type: Investigators in the Greater Toronto Area are expected to work in a hybrid model (two days per week in office). Applications are welcome from candidates across Canada.

As a Senior Investigator, you will play a critical role in the objective investigation and resolution of complaints. You will be assigned banking and investment cases involving a wide range of issues and complexity. Senior Investigators are expected to exercise independent judgement, reasoning and analysis and are required to manage moderate to high caseloads. Your strong knowledge of the banking or investment industry and products, as well as relevant legal and regulatory environments will be important in this role. Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.

About OBSI - Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments

OBSI is Canada’s trusted independent dispute resolution service for consumers and small businesses with a complaint they can't resolve with their banking services or investment firm. As a free alternative to the legal system, we work informally and confidentially to find fair outcomes to disputes about banking and investment products and services.

OBSI looks into complaints about most banking and investment matters including: mutual funds; bonds and GICs; stocks, exchange traded funds, income trusts and other securities; investment advice; unauthorized trading; fraud; debit and credit cards; mortgages; loans and credit; fees and rates; transaction errors; misrepresentation; and accounts sent to collections. Where a complaint has merit, OBSI may recommend compensation up to a maximum of $350,000.

OBSI’s staff consists of qualified professionals from the financial services, law, accounting, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance fields.

Current participating firms include:
