About the role

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of waste and recycling services for a group of restaurants. The Circularity Coordinator will oversee operations serviced by a combination of third-party haulers and potentially internal assets through a backhaul process. The coordinator will quickly address service issues at restaurants, effectively communicate with stakeholders, and periodically visit locations to reinforce the waste management program and train restaurant crew members on sustainability practices.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and manage waste and recycling services for a designated group of restaurants, ensuring efficient operations with both third-party haulers and internal backhaul processes
  • Conduct regular visits to restaurants to monitor the compliance and effectiveness of waste management practices, providing on-site training and reinforcement to crew members
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with restaurant management and staff to promote best practices in waste disposal and recycling programs
  • Monitor service performance and identify opportunities for improvement in waste and recycling services, collaborating with haulers and restaurant teams to enhance operational efficiency
  • Compile and analyze data related to waste generation and recycling rates, providing insights and recommendations for optimizing circularity initiatives
  • Document service issues and resolutions, tracking patterns that may require further action or training
  • Develop and implement educational materials and training sessions for restaurant staff on sustainability initiatives, recycling protocols, and waste reduction strategies
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in waste management and environmental sustainability to foster continuous improvement
  • Work collaboratively with the broader sustainability and circularity team to align goals and share successful strategies across all locations
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on program performance, challenges, and successes
  • Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulations
  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of recycling processes, waste management practices, and circular economy principles
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and train restaurant staff at all levels. Bilingual (French/English) would be an asset
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond swiftly to service issues or customer concerns
  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration and teamwork among diverse stakeholders
  • Comfortable with data analysis and reporting, including tracking key performance indicators related to waste and recycling services
  • Proficient in using technology and software tools for scheduling, data tracking, and communication
  • This position must pass a post-offer background
