This role sits within Northpoint Commercial Finance, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.

The mission of Northpoint Commercial Finance is to support business productivity by facilitating the acquisition, sale and refinancing of equipment. To do so, we partner with manufacturers, distributors, retailers, equipment users and the various financial players in the market. Recognized for its excellent service, proximity and simplicity, Northpoint Commercial Finance is proud to serve local communities across Canada. Our partners are supported by teams specializing in the following sectors: transportation and construction, technology and office equipment, manufacturing, franchising and corporate aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Designs a multi faceted business development plan suitable for the transportation / construction industry which would include;
  • Implementing a direct solicitation strategy aimed at high potential prospects (i.e. established trucking and construction companies with moderate to large annual capital expenditures);
  • Establishing and maintaining a productive working relationship with key dealers of the relevant equipment;
  • Being an active member of industry associations;
  • Recommends value added leasing and financing structures which are compliant with Northpoint Commercial Finance's policies and procedures;
  • Performs financial statement analysis, prepares credit applications;
  • Works in close collaboration with other members of Northpoint Commercial Finance to ensure timely product delivery and customer fulfillment;
  • Maintains an awareness of market trends, industry related legislation, and competitor strengths, to maximize prospecting effectiveness and source new business opportunities;
  • Monitors the portfolio to ensure ongoing compliance with existing terms and conditions (credit risk control);
  • Ensures compliance with Northpoint Commercial Finance policies and applicable legislation in all dealings;
  • Promotes cross sell opportunities with the Bank
  • Performs other related duties as required and/or as requested by the Assistant Vice President.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field combined with 6-8 years of commercial lending experience with an emphasis on equipment financing and leasing;
  • Proven track record in business development and deal negotiation;
  • Experience analyzing financial statements;
  • Understanding of transportation/construction equipment, including makes, models, and valuations;
  • Full understanding of lease and loan structures and products, and how to promote such products to match customer needs;
  • Proven ability to structure financial transactions;
  • Verifiable presentation and written communication skills;
  • Ability to manage priorities and deliver in a timely manner;
  • Exceptional team player who demonstrates integrity in dealings with all stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, C.A., or CFA accreditation an asset.
  • Established network in transportation and/or construction industries in the province of Ontario.
