We offer gratitude to the Skwxwú7mesh People who have lived on these lands since time immemorial.Senior Payroll SpecialistPermanent Full-Time The District of Squamish is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist responsible for the leadership and management of payroll and the support of general financial analysis, accounting, and reporting. As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will oversee financial compliance and support human resources with labour relation matters, bargaining processes, and grievance resolution. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.Key Responsibilities: Oversees and manages the full-cycle payroll process for exempt and unionized staff, and financial compliance with multiple collective agreements and employment contracts. Performs complex financial analysis including forecasting and responding to reporting requests. Responds to complex payroll inquiries and escalated issues from employees, timekeepers, managers, and senior leadership. Prepares, reviews, and approves journal entries, sub-ledger adjustments, and reconciliations. Participates in the year-end audit process and other compliance audits.What we?re looking for: Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation. Undergraduate Degree in Commerce or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience working in accounting and payroll in a multi-union payroll environment. Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience. Thorough knowledge of the Canadian payroll legislation and British Columbia specific regulations. Knowledge of group benefits, fringe benefits, union contracts, payroll policies and procedures, and computerized database and payroll systems.Who we are: The District of Squamish is a progressive and growing community.
