Registered Nurse (RN) - Mental Health
About the role
Required
- Must be a graduate of a Diploma or Degree Nursing Program and hold a current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions.
- Within the past 5 years working as an RN, has minimum of 2 years working in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
- Has completed additional continuing education related to Mental Health Nursing in the past 3 years.
- Must demonstrate within 6 months of start date the skills to be assigned in- charge responsibility.
- Must be available for all shifts.
- Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review).
Duties
- Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing psychiatric/mental health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care.
- Responsible for supervision of other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
- Maintains nursing records.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands Analysis Strength
- Required Occasionally – lifting and carrying average weight 20 pounds and max 50, pushing/pulling average 10-15 pounds and max 30 pounds, patient assist approx. 100 pounds.
Mobility

- Required Occasionally – sitting, twisting/turning, bending, crouching/squatting, kneeling, and
- Required Rarely – balancing, climbing.
Dexterity

Quinte Health provides a wide range of high quality health care services to 160,000 people living in the 7000 square kilometre region of Prince Edward and Hastings Counties and the southeast portion of Northumberland County.
Care is provided through four hospitals - Belleville General Hospital, North Hastings Hospital, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and Trenton Memorial Hospital - and includes four emergency departments, operating rooms at three sites, a rehabilitation day hospital, children's treatment centre, ambulatory care clinics, community mental health programs and a range of diagnostic services.
