SYSTEMS ENGINEER
1.0 FTE – Permanent position
Salary Range: $95,364 to $119,209 per year
The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time permanent position of Systems Engineer to work as a member of the senior technical team within Information Technology Services (ITS). The successful candidate will provide technical support, supervision, leadership, and project management, in a multi-functional role, with security and communications being the primary responsibilities. Other areas of responsibility may include cloud computing, networking, server support, Active Directory, endpoint management, network/systems monitoring.
Responsibilities:
- Support and administration with security technologies such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response), Network/Systems monitoring, Cyber Security.
- Support and administration of aspects related to data & voice cabling.
- Support and administration with voice technologies such as Cloud/Hybrid voice soultions, PRI, SIP, VOIP.
- Provide support (or backup support) for other responsibilities within the senior ITS team, such as Active Directory, cloud computing, server support, networking.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent.
- A minimum of five (5) years' related working experience in a large complex public sector organization, preferably in an educational environment.
- Certification and/or proven experience and support with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, Network and Systems security, Cyber Security.
- Certification and/or proven experience and support with communication technologies such as PRI, SIP, and/or VOIP, Microsoft Teams Phone with Calling Plans, Direct Routing, and Operator Connect, in addition to Microsoft Teams devices, audio/video conferencing, and voice migration.
- Certifications in computer and technology related field, such as Microsoft® Server (minimum 2012), Networking, Virtualization and/or security certifications.
- Experience with process automation using PowerShell and/or other scripting tools.
- Preferred experience with Linux operating systems.
- Excellent team leadership and organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment; exceptional problem-solving skills and works well under pressure to meet aggressive timelines and resolve critical issues and excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required as this position requires regular travel throughout the County.
TESTING MAY BE REQUIRED DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS.
This is a permanent position that works twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve (12) month position is $95,364 to $119,209 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,
even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
