Engineer 1 - Network Applications
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Fraser Vly Office
Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident
Annual salary: $ 72,500.00 - 91,600.00
What you'll do
Under supervision of senior engineer, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Real-time monitoring and analysis of the performance and quality of results of Energy Management System (EMS)
network analysis applications such as real-time state estimator, power flow, contingency analysis and transient and voltage
stability analysis,
- Troubleshooting of power system application real-time problems
- Maintenance of real-time (EMS) power system network model
- Tuning and testing of advanced EMS network applications
- Participation in control center operations technology upgrade projects including deployment of new network analysis
applications and tools
- Providing real-time support and technical solutions to the control room personnel in the area of EMS network analysis
applications
What you bring
The successful applicant will have:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power system analysis, optimization and control.
- Strong theoretical background in power system analysis applications and tools including power system state estimation,
power flow, contingency analysis and voltage and transient stability analysis.
- Excellent understanding of power system modeling.
- Good understanding of basic principles from the control systems theory.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Capability to work under stressful conditions in the real-time.
- Proficiency in a variety of programming and scripting languages, including C++, Fortran, Java, Perl. Basic knowledge of
Linux and Windows operating systems is desirable. Experience with Oracle Database Administration, Microsoft Visual
Studio and Visual Source Safe would be an asset.

Previous experience in the utility control centre environment or in similar engineering environment would be an asset.

Eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
We are seeking a self motivated, hard working, flexible individual with excellent written and oral communication skills, who
is able to work independently, as well as part of a dedicated team in a demanding environment.
