The Accounting Coordinator supports bank reconciliations, utility account management, and financial reporting by ensuring transactions are accurate, expenses are properly recorded, and utility payments are processed on time. This role works closely with internal teams and vendors to maintain financial accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and support month-end accounting activities.

This role is a temporary 12-month contract position.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, review transactions, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Manage utility accounts, including account setup, bill payments, vendor communication, and issue resolution to prevent service disruptions.
  • Process and maintain accurate utility expense records, journal entries, accruals, and month-end reconciliations.
  • Analyze utility expenses, investigate variances, and ensure expenses are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Maintain utilities-related data and prepare reports to support financial analysis and decision-making.
  • Document processes, support audits, and identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, utility providers, and other stakeholders to support accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in accounting preferred; relevant internship or co-op experience is also valued.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g. Yardi, Kyriba, Oracle, SAP) is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when working with financial data.
  • Effective analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
