What you'll be doing
You will be joining the Simplii QA Shared Services team, an integral part of the Simplii and Investing Technology portfolio. The Senior Consultant, IT QA Automation, will spearhead Automation Testing for the Simplii QA group, which encompasses several distributed systems like web based, mainframe, database and jobs related applications. At the forefront of the Automation Testing team, the role will envision the automation strategy, planning and execution for the group. The ideal candidate is a well-seasoned SME in the Automation Testing domain and will require expert knowledge of Automation Testing concepts, design, tools and most importantly, the ability to pinpoint/ troubleshoot complex testing issues, while liaising with different teams (QA/ Dev/ DBA/ App Support) and all levels of leadership. The willingness to adopt AI, innovate and enhance current practices will also be a significant contributing factor to the effectiveness of the position. Another key area of focus will be to build and foster strong relationships within the team and all stakeholders. As a team lead to the Automation Testing team, the Senior Consultant will work on estimates, plan out work assignments, train and assist the team in their day to day operations, while adhering to established controls and standards within the enterprise.

How you'll succeed
- Strategic Development & Execution – Lead and deliver all aspects of QA and QE. Identify the drivers, strategies, and needs of the technology solution and the QA delivery strategy to support those projects. Ensure high standards and quality of technical work. Direct reviews of requirements, tools, and technologies for improving quality. Single point of contact for all initiatives and provide senior level technical consulting to technology teams and senior management.
- Leadership skills – Provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship. Proactively identify any potential issues throughout all test phases, and suggest possible improvements or enhancements.
- Project coordination – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders, and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals.
- Innovation Leadership – Embrace change, challenge conventional thinking and champion continuous innovation while maintaining operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Ownership Mentality – Proactive, results-driven approach with full accountability for outcomes and continuous improvement mindset that drives organizational excellence.
- Automation and Engineering - Lead the Automation Team in not only the maintenance of existing packages but also the evaluation, design and implementation of new automation technologies, frameworks, DevOps products while incorporating AI techniques.
Who you are
- You have extensive and at least 8 years experience in: leading/ consulting in software development testing, automation and process improvement principles. Hands-on experience in an automation testing lead position and a proven track record of process improvement. You have in-depth knowledge and experience in automation tools and frameworks like Microfocus UFT/Selenium/ Robot/ Quantum, software development experience in Java, Python, VBScript, writing and executing SQL queries, as well as creating and executing test scripts. You also have experience in API testing, Jenkins, CI/CD, DevOps, Jira, Github actions and Agile/ Scrum methodologies. It is an asset if you have prior experience in service virtualization (Parasoft Virtualize), performance testing and/ or development experience.
