About the role
At Capilano University, we offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for a Counsellor to make a significant impact on the lives of our students. This position spans from October 2025 to August 31, 2026 and is considered full-time. The position is in-person based out of our North Vancouver campus.
In this role you will provide vital individual counselling to our diverse student body, addressing a comprehensive spectrum of mental health and student success challenges. In addition to one-on-one interactions, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with our dedicated faculty and staff to address and improve student concerns, fostering an environment of holistic support.
Experience, competencies & qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or its equivalent. Previous experience in providing counselling services within a university or college setting is considered a valuable asset. Additionally, the candidate should have received training and gained practical experience in single-session and short-term therapy, showcasing an ability to efficiently address the immediate needs of students. Any teaching experience is also seen as an advantage. Demonstrated experience in working with diverse populations is highly desired, highlighting the importance of cultural competency. Furthermore, a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of common mental health concerns specific to post-secondary students is crucial. Finally, familiarity with student success strategies is expected, as this knowledge will be instrumental in providing holistic support to our student community.
